I think learning literature is pretty important but I don't agree with that literature is the mirror of the society. Just because we don't know about literature a lot, we aren't going to = will not have difficulties from society. But probably, knowing literature a lot might help you to live comfortably and without having a lot of difficulties. I exactly don't know because I haven't studied literature yet and I am not really sure about my answer to this homework.

I also can sense your confusion. It only means that whatever happens in the society, writers or artists will write about it. It mirrors in such way that you may know what is the culture and traditions of a certain place or country if you will their literature. ^-^
