I guess we would then be enclosed with an insipid, grey environment. When I played some city or theme park simulation games such as Simcity, Skylines, Rollercoaster tycoon, I wasn't (actually wasn't able to be due to my lack of aptitude) concerned with beauty; only efficiency or equivalently profit was my interest. As a result, my city or park always end up with grid road system and several large apartment/attraction complexes. In fact, here in Korea, most of apartment complexes consists of box-apartments. In contrast, when I visited Europe, I found most houses much more attractive thanks to their distinct appearances. As such, I think beauty fills our world with some extra pleasure that can't be measured. |
