The major reason might be that the gift plays an essential role in people’s interaction. = The major reason is that gift plays an essential role in human interaction. (**note: don't use might and instead of people's interaction, use human interaction) To be more specific, when I get a gift from ones, I feel happy. = To be more specific, I feel happy whenever I receive a gift from someone. The gifts which people have received 10 years ago pay more attention to foods and clothes. This is because most people preferred to have essential items to make a living. = This is because most people then preffered daily necessities that they can use in everyday life. And these items had affordable price.  = Not to mention such items are affordable and easy to find. Whereas in contrast, in recent time a lot of people give and take expensive products such as mobile phone, electronic devices as a present. = Whereas in present time a lot of people choose to have expensive products such as mobile phones and electronic devices as presents. Although these items are so expensive, many people prefer the latest gadgets. = And although these items are far more expensive, many people prefer them more.

Well in my perspective, I would say that yes, it is.
