Comparing the past, we are living in contemporary society which is more abundant and plentiful of resources as well as food. Above all, concerning the lifestyle in the bracket of poverty, it seems totally different from previous lifestyle of the counterpart of them. In advanced countries, for example, the government categorizes life levels according to income of the unit of family, and supports families whose income is limited less than a specific standard. People live in poverty would benefit substantial amount of subsidy such as daily necessities, voucher, or real money. As the result of this policy, the poor do not have to starve or hunger anymore. Furthermore, since compulsory education has been popularized, the majority of people have chance to be literate and edified so that could promote their situation over the long run.
However, it is not enough to eradicate the gap between the poor and the rich. People in the bracket of poverty have less option to choose by themselves. They may do not starve due to the supported groceries that can be reserved for a long time such as bread and retort pouch, but maybe they prefer other food like fresh fruits and greens. Education is also limited to major subject and individual propensity and character are easily neglected at the expense of restricted finances. In order to fulfill the real equal society, the government should invest financial source to social infrastructure. |
