Although some TV programmes involve educational advantages, we should not overlook its drawbacks. First of all, TV could discourage pupils to keep with their studies. This is because there are many entertainments that could distract children from study easily. Therefore, it might be misused by children, if they cannot control their desires or retain their motivation for studying. As far as the negative repercussion of watching TV is concerned, children are extremely vulnerable for harmful factors in TV such as uncensored violence, sexual contents and coarse languages. Unfortunately, children are less likely to be exposed to these factors, while watching it. Hence, it might lead to increasing juvenile delinquency in our society because children are prone to imitate the things they watched on TV dramas regardless of the consequences. In conclusion, TV is like a double-edged sword, but I firmly believe that benefits of watching TV outweigh its drawbacks. As a result, parents and teachers should play a more active role in this aspect, by controlling the amount of time and giving them guidance in selecting suitable programmes in order to make a great use of the educational advantages TV can provide.
